Ethanoic acid reacts with sodium hydrogen carbonate to produce a brisk effervescence of carbon dioxide gas. The salt formed in this reaction is sodium ethanoate.
The chemical equation of the above reaction is:
CH3COOH + NaHCO3 → CH3COONa + CO2+ H2O
