  1. Ionic and metallic crystals are similar in that they both have non-directional bonds and electrostatic forces of attraction.
  2. Ionic crystals have electrostatic forces between oppositely charged ions, while metallic crystals have them between valence electrons and kernels.
  3. Both have extremely high melting points as a result.
