For burning carbon in oxygen: \[\ce{C + O2 -> CO2}\]

Molar masses

C : 12 g/mol
O2​ : 32 g/mol

Given data

Moles of C: 2 mol
Mass of O2​: 16 g
Moles of O2 = `16/32` = 0.5 mol

​Limiting reagent check

1 mol C reacts with 1 mol O2

Required O2 for 2 mol C = 2 mol

Available O2 = 0.5 mol

So, O₂ is the limiting reagent.

Moles of CO2​ formed

1 mol O2 → 1 mol CO2​
0.5 mol O2​ → 0.5 mol CO2
Mass of CO2
Molar mass of CO2 = 44 g/mol
Mass = 0.5 × 44 = 22g
