उत्तर

We can see the reflection of our face on a polished tabletop because a regular reflection occurs in case of a polished surface while on an unpolished tabletop irregular reflection occurs which makes the image of our face unclear.

A student obtains a sharp image of the distant window (W) of the school laboratory on the screen (S) using the given concave mirror (M) to determine its focal length. Which of the following distances should he measure to get the focal length of the mirror?

A student used a device (X) to obtain/focus the image of a well illuminated distant building on a screen (S) as shown below in the diagram. Select the correct statement about the device (X).

What kind of mirror is required for obtaining a virtual image of the same size as the object?

Explain the following terms :
Pole, Centre of curvature, Radius of curvature, Principal axis. Show them on separate diagrams for each of the concave and convex mirrors.

A student obtained a sharp image of a burning candle, placed at the farther end of a laboratory table, on a screen using a concave mirror. For getting better value of focal length of the mirror, the subject teacher suggested him for focusing a well illuminated distant object. What should the student do?

(A) He should move the mirror away from the screen.

(B) He should move the mirror slightly towards the screen.

(C) He should move the mirror as well as the screen towards the newly selected object.

(D) He should move only the screen towards the newly selected object.

If a spherical mirror breaks, what type of mirrors are the individual pieces?

Choose the correct alternative and rewrite the following:

Mirror used by a dental surgeon is ..........................

Find the height of the image of a body of height 1.5m in a mirror with a magnification of 1.5.

Draw a ray diagram to show that a convex mirror has a wider field of view.

Assertion: Incident ray is directed towards the centre of curvature of spherical mirror. After reflection it retraces its path.

Reason: Angle of incidence (i) = Angle of reflection (r) = 0°
