उत्तर
Density of water 1.0 g Cm-3
Density of piece of iron = 7.8 × 10-3
Density of mercury is 13.6 × 10-3 g Cm-3
Since 7.8 × 10-3 < 13.6 × 10-3
∴ Density of piece of iron is LESS than density of mercury
∴ Piece of iron will FLOAT in mercury

Two identical pieces, one of ice (density = 900kg per meter cube) and other wood (density = 300kg per meter cube) float on water.
- Which of the two will have more volume submerged inside water
- Which of two will experience more upthrust due to water.
If the buoyant force is less, the object will float.
