उत्तर
Modern techniques such as IVF, surrogacy, and sperm banks help childless couples have children. These techniques are useful for couples facing problems such as low sperm count, blocked oviducts (fallopian tubes), or difficulties in implantation.
- In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
- In this technique, fertilization of the ovum and sperm takes place outside the body in a laboratory (test tube).
- The embryo formed is then implanted into the uterus of the woman for further development.
- Surrogacy
- Surrogacy is used when a woman is unable to carry or implant an embryo in her uterus.
- The ovum from the biological mother is fertilized with the husband’s sperm outside the body.
- The embryo formed is implanted into the uterus of another woman, called the surrogate mother, who carries the pregnancy.
- Sperm bank
- A sperm bank is a facility where sperm from healthy donors is collected, tested, and stored.
- When a man has problems producing healthy sperm, donor sperm can be used for fertilization.
- The donor’s identity is kept confidential.
