उत्तर
In the case of powdered glass, irregular reflection takes place from various particles. Thus, light is sent back into the same medium. Therefore, it looks opaque. On putting water over the powder incident light gets refracted through water. That is why it looks transparent.

The correctly marked angle(s) is/are
(A) ∠ i only
(B) ∠ e only
(C) ∠ r only
(D) ∠ i and ∠ e
After tracing the path of a ray of light passing through a rectangular glass slab for four different values of the angle of incidence, a student reported his observations in tabular form as given below:

Draw diagrams to show the refraction of light from
- air to glass, and
- glass to air. In each diagram, label the incident ray, refracted ray, the angle of incidence
- and the angle of refraction (r).
What is the refractive index of water
Express the refractive index μ of a medium in terms of the velocity of light.
Complete the ray diagram showing its emergence into the air after passing through the prism.

Consider these indices of refraction: glass: 1.52; air: 1.0003; water: 1.333. Based on the refractive indices of three materials, arrange the speed of light through them in decreasing order.
Draw the ray diagram of a glass slab having medium A and B for the velocity of light ray VA and VB respectively and define Snell's law.
- If VB = 1.5 VA, then which medium is denser?
- What is the refractive index of A with respect to B?
- What is the refractive index of B with respect to A?
