Let, y = sin (ax + b)

Putting ax + b = t,

y = sin t,

`dy/dt` = cos t, `dt/dx = d/dx` (ax + b) = a

`therefore dy/dx = dy/dt xx dt/dx`

= cos t × a

= a cos t

= a cos (ax + b)
