उत्तर

Aqueous copper sulphate solution exists as [Cu(H2O)4]SO4 and is blue in colour due to [Cu(H2O)4]2+ ions.

When KF solution is added, the weak H2O ligands are replaced by strong F ligands. Thus, [CuF4]2− ions are formed, which give green precipitate.

\[\ce{\underset{Tetraaquacopper(II) ion}{[Cu(H2O)4]^2+} + \underset{[From KF_{( aq)}]}{4F-} -> \underset{(Green ppt.)}{\underset{Tetrafluoridocuprate (II) ion}{[CuF4]^2-}} + 4H2O}\]
