A simple microscope is used by watch repairers. Give reason.

उत्तर

When an object is placed within the focal length of a simple microscope, its magnified and erect image is obtained on the same side of the lens as that of the object. So, a watch repairer sees the minute parts of a watch very clearly with a simple microscope by adjusting the distance between the object and the lens. This helps in repairing the watch. Hence, a simple microscope is used by watch repairers.

We can obtain a real, enlarged and inverted image by a concave mirror.

A small object is placed 150 mm away from a diverging lens of focal length 100 mm.
(i) Copy the figure below and draw rays to show how an image is formed by the lens.

(ii) Calculate the distance of the image from the lens by using the lens formula.

A coin placed at the bottom of a vessel appears to be raised when water is poured in the vessel.

What is a spherical mirror?

Name the kind of mirror used to obtain:

A real and diminished image.

Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of image of an object kept in front of a convex mirror. State three characteristics of the image.

The image formed by a convex mirror is of size one third the size of object. How are u and v related?

At what distance from a concave mirror of focal length 25 cm should an object be placed so that the size of image is equal to the size of the object.

An object forms a virtual image which is 1/8th of the size of the object. If the object is placed at a distance of 40 cm from the convex mirror, calculate:

  1. the position of the image
  2. the focal length of the convex mirror.

Select the correct option:

When we look into a plane mirror, is the image of our face real or virtual?

What kind of mirror is used in vehicles to see the traffic on the rear side?

Give three uses of concave mirrors.

AB is the object, A1B1 is its image. MM' is the position of the mirror. Complete the ray diagram and find the position of the center of curvature and focus of the mirror. Also, measure the focal length.

Define focal length.

The radius of curvature of a spherical mirror is 18 cm. What is the focal length of this mirror?

How tall does a mirror have to be to fit an entire person’s body?

A converging lens of focal length f is placed at a distance 0.3 m from an object to produce an image on a screen 0.9 m from the lens. With the object and the screen in the same positions, an image of the object could also be produced on the screen by placing a converging lens of focal length.
