2. Southern Brazil is covered by a vast plateau. The height (altitude) rapidly lowers towards the north. A number of rivers emerge from the highlands’ terminus and travel north to the Atlantic Ocean. The Sao Francisco River travels towards the north before turning sharply eastward to enter the coastal strip along the Atlantic Ocean.
3. In addition, the Amazon, Brazil’s longest river, rises on the eastern slopes of Peru’s Andes Mountains, flows eastward, and joins the North Atlantic Ocean.
4. Parana, Paraguay, and Uruguay all originate on the southern slopes of the Highlands and flow through Brazil’s south-western region.

Therefore, there are no west-flowing rivers in Brazil.
