Solution

  • Distilled water does not contain any ionic compounds in it. Whereas rainwater contains many more compounds.
  • Rainwater dissolves acidic gases, such as carbon dioxide, from the air, forming carbonic acid. This means that it has hydrogen ions and carbonate ions. Therefore, in the presence of acids, rainwater can conduct electricity.
