Question

What is the effect of dilution on the molar conductivity of a solution?

Short Answer

Solution

On dilution, molar conductivity (Λm) increases because the ions move more freely due to reduced inter-ionic interactions. For strong electrolytes, the increase is slight (they are already fully dissociated), but for weak electrolytes, the increase is sharp due to increased ionisation with dilution.
