Let the length and breadth of the rectangle be 3x m and x m, respectively. According to the question:  

`3x xx x =147` 

⇒`3x^2=147` 

⇒`x^2=49` 

⇒ `x=7  or  x=-7` 

⇒`x=7`        ( ∵ x cannot be negative) 

∴ Length = `3xx7=21m`
