Find out the order of reaction with respect to Cl2, with respect to NO and also the overall order of the reaction.

The given rate law is Rate = k[Cl2] [NO]2

Order with respect to Cl2:

The exponent of Cl2 is 1

∴ Order = 1

Order with respect to NO:

The exponent of NO is 2

∴ Order = 2

Overall order of the reaction:

Overall order = 1 + 2

Overall order = 3
