Solution

Given:

Apparent depth = 7.7 cm

Refractive index, n = 1.3

Formula:

n = `"Real depth"/"Apparent depth"`

Real depth = n × Apparent depth

= 1.3 × 7.7

= 10.01 cm

The actual (real) depth is approximately 10 cm.
