State whether the following quadratic equation have two distinct real roots. Justify your answer.

The equation x2 – 3x + 4 = 0 has no real roots.

D = b2 – 4ac

= (–3)2 – 4(1)(4)

= 9 – 16 < 0

Hence, the roots are imaginary.
