Question

Numerical problems:

A body vibrates 3000 times in one minute. If the velocity of sound in air is 330 ms-1, find

  1. Frequency of vibration
  2. Wavelength.
Answer in Brief

Solution

The velocity of sound in air, v = 330 ms-1
No.of vibrations in a minute = 3000 / minute.

Frequency, (Vibrations produced in one second)

υ = `3000/60` = 50 Hz

Wavelength, λ = `"V"/"υ"= 330/50` = 6.6 m

Wavelength, λ =  6.6 m
