Solution

  1. Similarity between Kf and Kb:
Kf and Kb are molal depression in freezing point constant and molal elevation constant respectively. They are characteristic of solvent and independent of the solute. That is, the value of Kf and Kb depends only on the type of solvent and not on the nature of solute dissolved in it. Both Kf and Kb have
    units of K kg mol−1.
  2. Difference between Kf and Kb:
Kf is the depression in freezing point produced by 1 molal solution of a nonvolatile solute while Kb is the elevation in boiling point produced by 1 molal solution of a nonvolatile solute.
