As, DE || BC,
∴ ΔADE ≈ ΔABC
⇒ `(AD)/(AE) = (AB)/(AC)`
⇒ `x/(x + 2) = (2x - 2)/(2x + 1)`
⇒ `2x^2 + x = 2x^2 + 4x - 2x - 4`
⇒ `2x^2 + x - 2x^2 - 4x + 2x = - 4`
⇒ `3x - 4x = - 4`
⇒ `- x = - 4`
⇒ `x` = 4
