Solution
The equivalent conductivity (Λeq) is related to the specific conductivity (κ) by the following equation.
`Lambda_(eq) = kappa/c_(eq)` ...(i)
Where ceq is the solution’s concentration expressed in grams per unit volume. When 1 gram of an electrolyte dissolves in Veq cm3 of the solution, we get
`c_(eq) = 1/V_(eq)` g eq cm−3
Substituting the value in the equation (i), we get
Λeq = κ × Veq ...(ii)
It should be carefully noted that the volume in cm3 of the solution containing 1 gram equivalent of the electrolyte is represented by the term Veq in the equation above.
