Question
How can the cell potential be used in predicting the feasibility of a cell reaction?
Short Answer

Solution
The feasibility of a redox reaction can be predicted with the help of the electrochemical series.
The net emf of the cell reaction \[\ce{E{^{\circ}_{cell}}}\] can be calculated from the expression
`E_"cell"^circ = E_"cathode"^circ - E_"anode"^circ`
In general if,
\[\ce{E{^{\circ}_{cell}}}\] is positive the reaction is feasible.
\[\ce{E{^{\circ}_{cell}}}\] is negative; the reaction is not feasible.
