Solution

A solute is the substance that is dissolved in a solvent to form a solution. It is usually present in a smaller amount compared to the solvent. In a solution, the solute particles are uniformly dispersed at the molecular or ionic level throughout the solvent.

For example, in a saltwater solution, salt (sodium chloride) is the solute and water is the solvent.
