Solution

Given: Mass of sucrose = 3.42 g

Volume of solution = 1 L

Temperature (T) = 400 K

Molar mass of sucrose (M) = 342 g/mol

Gas constant (R) = 0.0821 L atm mol−1 K−1

Moles of sucrose = `3.42/342`

= 0.01

C = `(0.01  mol)/(1  L)`

= 0.01 mol/L

π = CRT

= 0.01 × 0.0821 × 400

= 0.3284 atm

π = 0.33 atm
