A manufacturing company finds that the daily cost of producing x items of product is given by C(x) = 210x + 7000. Find the minimum number that must be produced and sold daily if each item is sold for ₹ 280.

Solution

Given C(x) = 210x + 7000, R(x) = 280x

Minimum number must be sold daily when R(x) = C(x)

⇒ 210x + 7000 = 280x

⇒ 70x = 7000

⇒ x = 100

∴ Minimum number that must be sold is 100.
