How do psychologists characterise and define intelligence?

उत्तर
- The psychological motion of intelligence differs significantly from the commonly sensed motion of intelligence. People generally defined intelligence as mental alertness, readiness for art, quick learning, and the ability to understand relationships.
- The Oxford Dictionary defined intelligence as the ability to see, study, understand, and know.
- Accordingly, Alfred Binet used these characteristics to describe intelligence as the ability to see well, understand well, and reason well. Later, Wechsler provided a thorough description in terms of functionality, i.e., the value of adaptability to environment. He defined "intelligence" as “the global and aggregate capacity of an individual to think rationally, act purposefully and to deal effectively with his/her environment.”
- Gardner and Sternberg, modern psychologists, highlighted that “Intelligent individual not only adapts to the environment, but actively modifies or shapes it.” Sternberg defines intelligence as “ the ability to adapt, to shape and select environment to accomplish ones goals and those of ones society and culture.”
