प्रश्न

Give reasons for the following

Elevation of the boiling point of 1 M KCl solution is nearly double than that of 1 M sugar solution.

उत्तर १

KCl dissociates into K+ and Cl, i.e , i = 2. Whereas, sugar doesn’t dissociate to give ions.
Since elevation in boiling point is directly proportional to “i” value. Therefore, the elevation in the boiling point of 1M KCl solution is nearly double than that of 1 M sugar solution.

उत्तर २

As colligative property depends only on the number of particle and KCl as electrolyte will produce the double number of the particle of sugar.
