उत्तर

Explanation:
-
A beam of white light enters the first glass prism A.
-
It gets dispersed into its constituent colors, mainly Violet (V) and Red (R) shown here.
-
This is called dispersion of light.
Then, these separated colors pass through a second identical prism B, which is placed in the inverted position compared to A. The second prism recombines the colors back into white light. So, the light coming out of prism B and reaching the screen is white light again.

A narrow beam PQ of white light is passing through a glass prism ABC as shown in the diagram.

Trace it on your answer sheet and show the path of the emergent beam as observed on the screen DE.
(i) Write the name and cause of the phenomenon observed.
(ii) Where else in nature is this phenomenon observed?
(iii) Based on this observation, state the conclusion which can be drawn about the constituents of white light.
State the cause of dispersion of white light passing through a glass prism. How did Newton show that white light of sun contains seven colours using two identical glass prisms. Draw a ray diagram to show the path of light when two identical glass prisms are arranged together in inverted position with respect to each other and a narrow beam of white light is allowed to fall obliquely on one of the focus of the first prism.

The sunlight can be split into its constituent colors using ______.
The angle of deviation through a prism is minimum when

- Incident rays and emergent rays are symmetric to the prism.
- The refracted ray inside the prism becomes parallel to its base.
- The angle of incidence is equal to that of the angle of emergence.
- When the angle of emergence has doubled the angle of incidence.
