The assertion that V = IR is a statement of Ohm’s law is not true. Why?

IR is simply a way to define resistance. According to Ohm’s Law, for many materials, as long as physical parameters like temperature don’t change, the ratio V/I stays constant (i.e., R is independent of V and I). Not every component (such as transistors and diodes) complies with this.
