Free liquid drops and bubbles are spherical because of surface tension. Surface tension tends to reduce the surface area of a liquid to the minimum possible value. For a given volume, a sphere has the minimum surface area. Hence, free liquid drops and bubbles naturally acquire a spherical shape.
