Subject: Complaint regarding unfair trade practice/deficiency in service in the purchase of vegetables.

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am writing to file a formal complaint under the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, against M/s Fresh Vegetable Store, located at 45, Dadar Market, Mumbai – 400014, for engaging in unfair trade practices/deficiency in service during my recent purchase of vegetables.

On 1 July 2025, I purchased 5 kg of potatoes, 3 kg of onions, and 2 kg of tomatoes from the above-mentioned seller for Rs. 1,000. The transaction was made at Dadar Market, Mumbai. I have attached a copy of the bill/receipt for this purchase, marked as Annexure A.

Upon returning home and inspecting the purchased goods, I discovered that a significant portion of the vegetables was rotten and of inferior quality, making them unfit for consumption. I estimate the loss incurred due to this deficiency to be approximately Rs. 700. I have attached photographic evidence of the damaged vegetables as Annexure B.

I immediately contacted the seller on 2 July 2025 to report the issue and seek a resolution. However, the seller refused to replace the vegetables or refund the amount and ignored my complaint. This refusal amounts to a clear deficiency in service and an unfair trade practice.

Therefore, I request your esteemed Commission to take necessary action against the seller for their unfair trade practices and deficiency in service. I seek the following reliefs:

1. A full refund of Rs. 1,000 for the defective vegetables.
2. Compensation for the inconvenience and mental agony caused, amounting to Rs. 5,000.
3. Any other relief that this Hon'ble Commission deems fit and proper in the interest of justice.

I affirm that the information provided in this complaint is true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief. I am ready to provide any further information or evidence as required by the Commission.
