Respected Sir,
This is to inform the municipal authorities and the general public about the condition of the gutters in our area.
The whole area of Shrinagar is in a mess. After the recent floods, the gutters have been overflowing all the time. Though the initial mess was cleaned up, the gutters were not repaired. This has led to the gutter water overflowing onto the roads, creating a stink and a dangerous health hazard. It is also a very horrible and disgusting sight. All the residents of Shrinagar, including little children, have to walk through this mess to reach the bus stop, school, etc. We approached the municipal authorities to begin the repair work urgently, but they have turned a deaf ear to our appeal. What are they waiting for? An epidemic of various diseases? People to go about wearing masks?
There is enough place at the side for the drain to be widened. The smaller drain leading from Shrinagar can also be joined directly to the big 'nullah'. I am sure the engineers can come up with a suitable plan. Please highlight this issue and its harmful effects in your newspaper so that the authorities wake up.
