In given figure, the length PB = 4 cm.

Explanation:

Since AB is a tangent at P and OP is radius.

∴ ∠APO = 90°, AO = 5 cm and OP = 3 cm

In right angled ΔOPA,

AP² = AO² – OP²   ...(By pythagoras theorem)

AP² = (5)² – (3)²

= 25 – 9

= 16

⇒ AP = 4 cm

∵ Perpendicular from centre to chord bisect the chord

⇒ AP = BP = 4 cm.
