The equation of any line parallel to 5x – 4y + 3 = 0 is
5x – 4y + k = 0 ........(1)
The x-intercept of line (I) is obtained by putting
y = 0 in the equation (1)
⇒ 5x – 4(0) + k = 0
5x = – k
⇒ x = `- "k"/5`
Given that the x-intercept in 3
∴ `- "k"/5` = 3
⇒ k = – 15
∴ The equation of the required line is
5x – 4y – 15 = 0
