उत्तर

The poet vividly portrays the young plant as a 'very small, five months child':

'It was very small, five months child, Lost in the tall grass running wild.'

Later, during the subsequent spring, the poet keenly observes the plant's growth, noting the emergence of three new shoots:

'Next spring I watched three new shoots grow, The young tree struggle, upward thrust Its arms in a fresh fierce lust For light and air and sun.'

These lines reveal the poet made minute observations of the steady growth of the tree.
