उत्तर

  1. Rill erosion is the formation of numerous small, shallow channels in soil caused by concentrated surface runoff, especially after intense rainfall. Rills are typically a few centimeters deep and wide, smaller than gullies, and represent an early stage of channelized erosion.
  2. They remove topsoil, lower land productivity, increase sediment transport and alter surface drainage. Susceptibility depends on slope, soil texture, vegetation cover, rainfall intensity and land use. Rill erosion can often be repaired by tillage, but prevention through vegetation cover, contour farming, terraces, mulches and engineered erosion-control measures is more sustainable and protects water quality and soil health and biodiversity.
