उत्तर
- Gully erosion is the removal of soil by concentrated surface runoff that creates large channels or gullies too deep to be removed by normal tillage. It develops when rill erosion expands under heavy or repeated rainfall, steep slopes, poor vegetation, deforestation, overgrazing, or improper farming.
- Gullies grow by headward erosion and sidewall collapse, removing fertile topsoil, reducing arable land, increasing sedimentation in rivers, and forming badlands. Control includes re-vegetation, contour farming, check dams or stone plugs, terracing, and restricting grazing or deforestation to reduce runoff and stabilize soil and restore natural drainage patterns to prevent further erosion effectively and sustainably.
