उत्तर

  • Depolarization of a nerve fibre membrane occurs when the activation gates of Na channels open while the K channels stay closed. Na+ rushes into the axon.
  • The input of sodium ions produces depolarization (polarity reversal) of the neuronal membrane, making the contents of the nerve fibres electropositive compared to the extracellular fluid.
  • Na+ starts entering the axoplasm rapidly, and as a result, depolarization of the nerve fibre starts. As a result of depolarization, a positive electrical charge is established on the inner surface of the neurilema and a negative electrical charge on the outer surface. This state is opposite the resting state.
