उत्तर
- Israel officially recognised the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) as a representative of the Palestinian people.
- In return, the PLO recognised Israel’s right to exist and agreed to renounce terrorism and violence.
- As part of the agreement, Palestinians were to be granted limited self-government in certain areas, which specifically are Jericho in the West Bank and parts of the Gaza Strip. Israel had occupied these regions since the 1967 war.
- Israeli troops were to withdraw from these areas, allowing the Palestinians to manage their own local affairs under a new form of limited self-rule.
