.A man raises a box of mass 50kg to a height of 2m in 20s, while another man raises the same box to the same height in 50s. Compare:
(i) the work done, and
(ii) the power developed by them.

उत्तर
(i) Work done to raise the block of mass 50kg is same for both.
(ii) Power= Work done/time. As the time taken by the first man is less therefore power developed is more.

In which of the following cases is work being done:
- A boy pushing a heavy rock
- A boy climbing up the stairs
- A coolie standing with a box on his head
- A girl moving on the road.

What are the two kinds of mechanical energy?
A car is running at a speed of 15 km h-1 while another similar car is moving at a speed of 45 km h-1. Find the ratio of their kinetic energies.
Calculate the work done when:
A 5 kg weight is lifted 10 m vertically. (g = 9.8 m/s2)
A coolie is pushing a box weighing 1500 N up an inclined plane 7.5 m long on to a platform, 2.5 m above the ground.
(i) Calculate the mechanical advantage of the inclined plane. (ii) Calculate the effort applied by the coolie.
(iii) In actual practice, the coolie needs to apply more effort than what is calculated. Give one reason why you think the coolie needs to apply more effort.
