Solution

Apiculture, also known as beekeeping, is the rearing of honey bees (Apis species) to obtain honey and other commercially important products. Honeybees are highly organised social insects that live in large colonies consisting of a queen, drones, and worker bees. These colonies build hives made of hexagonal wax cells to store honey and pollen and rear their young. Apiculture aims to produce pure honey through scientific management of artificial hives, replacing older crude methods. Besides honey, beeswax and other bee products are also valuable outputs of apiculture. In India, Apis indica is the preferred species due to its gentle nature and efficiency.
