Question
Give a geographical reason for the following:
The asthenosphere is in a semi-molten state.

Solution 1
At the depth of 100–250 km the mantle is partially molten and known as asthenosphere due to the temperature around 1100°C along with greater pressure and density.
Solution 2
The asthenosphere is in a semi-molten state due to the high temperatures and pressure within the upper mantle. At depths between 100 km and 410 km, the temperature is high enough to partially melt the rock, but the pressure prevents it from completely melting. This creates a viscous, semi-fluid layer that allows tectonic plates above it to move. The asthenosphere plays a crucial role in the movement of these plates.
