Solution

The production function is based on the following main features:

  1. Substitutability: Because the inputs and elements of production are interchangeable, it is feasible to change the overall output by altering the amount of one or a small number of inputs while maintaining the same amounts of all other inputs. The laws of variable proportions are a result of the substitutability of the components of production.
  2. Complementary: Since nothing will be generated if the quantity of either input utilised in the production process is zero, the elements of production are also complementary to one another, meaning that two or more inputs must be employed together. Another example of complementary inputs is the principle of returns to scale, which states that increasing the quantity of each input at the same time will result in a higher scale of overall output.
  3. Specificity: It demonstrates that the inputs are unique to a given product's manufacturing process. Examples of the specificity of factors of production include raw materials, specialized labor, and machinery and equipment. This demonstrates that no element in the production process can be disregarded.
