Alcohol (ethanol) can be used as a renewable fuel produced, for example, by fermenting sugarcane molasses and when burnt in sufficient air, it yields only carbon dioxide and water, making it a relatively clean fuel; it is therefore used in some countries as an additive to petrol (called gasohol) to improve fuel efficiency.
