Malignant refers to the tumour's pattern of cancer cells, which have the potential to spread to surrounding tissues and develop out of control. Malignant tumours are much more harmful than benign tumours, which are sometimes painful and deadly. Malignant cells are more likely to grow in size or spread to other parts of the body than benign tumours are. They also grow more quickly.
