  1. Reduced physical capacity: Anaemia reduces the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood, causing tiredness, weakness and reduced ability to work.
  2. Impaired growth and development: In children and adolescents, IDA affects physical growth, mental development and learning ability.
  3. Poor cognitive function: It reduces concentration, memory and performance in studies.
  4. Lower immunity: Iron deficiency weakens the immune system and increases susceptibility to infections.
  5. Complications during pregnancy: In pregnant women, IDA increases the risk of maternal complications and may result in low-birth-weight babies and premature births.
