For area,

Area scale = (1 : 200000)² = 1 : (200000)² = 1 : 40000000000

So,

1 cm² on map = 40000000000 cm² on ground

Convert to km²:

1 km² = (100000 cm)² = 10¹⁰ cm²

440000000000 ÷ 10¹⁰ = 4

1 cm² represents 4 km²
