Importance of Reading
Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends, Good morning! On the occasion of ‘Reading Inspiration Day’ 15th October, I am here to present my thoughts on the topic ‘Importance of Reading.’ ‘A book is a dream which you hold in your hand.’
Today’s generation is more fond of the internet and mobile phones than reading, isn’t it? But this is just a fad and reading can awaken the lost spirits in youngsters. Reading good books increases our knowledge. We get to know more about the world. We get ourselves updated. This in turn boosts our confidence and makes a person an eloquent speaker. We can then stand firmly and justify our point boldly in any argument. Also, reading eradicates the feeling of loneliness. We keep ourselves occupied like the great personalities Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Alva Edison, etc. used to do. The world’s second-richest person spends sixty percent of his day reading. This develops his vocabulary. These personalities read looks to gain inspiration, to gain power, and push themselves. Books mold our thoughts, our ideas, and our perspective to look at things differently. We get inspired to set a new target, achieve our goals and reach the pinnacle of success.
Friends, I would suggest that each one of us should read and read good books, as ‘A book has the power to change someone’s life.’
Thank you for hearing me patiently.
