(i) Certiorari: It is an order by the Supreme Court to the judicial or quasi-judicial authorities to quash its order or decision. Prohibition is issued when certain proceedings are still going on. Certiorari is issued only when the order has already been passed.
(ii) Quo-warranto: This writ prevents an unlawful claimant from holding a superior public office. The Court issues a writ to a public servant to enquire into the legality of his holding a public office and ousts him if his claim is not well founded.
