उत्तर

The given points are  A(6, -5) and B(-2,11).

Let ( x,y) be the midpoint of AB. Then,

` x = (x_1+x_2)/2 , y = (y_1 +y_2)/2`

` x = (6+(-2))/2 , y = (-5+11)/ 2`

` ⇒ x = (6-2)/2 , y = (-5+11)/2`

`⇒ x = 4/2 , y = 6/2 `

x = 2, y =3

So, the midpoint of ABis (2,3) .

But it is given that midpoint of AB is ( 2, p).

Therefore, the value of  p=3.

(–1, 7) is a point in the II quadrant.

If the points P(1, 2), Q(0, 0) and R(x, y) are collinear, then find the relation between x and y.

Given points are P(1, 2), Q(0, 0) and R(x, y).

The given points are collinear, so the area of the triangle formed by them is `square`.

∴ `1/2 |x_1(y_2 - y_3) + x_2(y_3 - y_1) + x_3(y_1 - y_2)| = square`

`1/2 |1(square) + 0(square) + x(square)| = square`

`square + square + square` = 0

`square + square` = 0

`square = square`

Hence, the relation between x and y is `square`.

The distance of the point (3, 5) from x-axis (in units) is ______.
